…and how it helps you understand and guide them better.
Children who constantly leave you puzzled, who nod yes but show no, who look at you with an expression that reveals all kinds of thoughts they don’t share with you. Children you want to help, to get them to practice with… but who build walls around themselves or simply refuse to do what you ask.
I’ve learned that it doesn’t have to stay this way. There is a simple tool that can help you reach different layers of a child, tell you what the child needs from you, and provide clarity about the reasons behind their behavior. That tool is a puppet, and in this program, I’ll teach you how to make it a powerful bridge builder.
Bridge Builders is designed for parents, special education teachers, child coaches, therapists, and youth care professionals who want to discover how to harness this power effectively. You can enroll in Bridge Builders whether you have no experience with puppets or if you are already working with a puppet and are looking for ‘coaching on the job,’ where I will observe, brainstorm, and provide you with perspectives to deepen your work with the puppet.
The puppet is your bridge builder
A child sees the world differently than you do as an adult. A puppet gives you the chance to view the world from their perspective and respond in ways that are different from how you, as an adult, would.
The dynamic between the child and the puppet is unique, and you can use this to open new doors. A puppet finds a way to connect with the child and engages them on a level that is different from how you would.
A child might feel threatened by you as an adult, but a puppet creates a safe space where the child feels freer to share and explore. If you can keep the puppet that safe, it's a tool you can use in many situations.
The puppet allows you to approach the child from multiple angles and try different methods. You are not the puppet, and vice versa. This greatly broadens your options and allows you to choose from various perspectives.
What a child might not want to share with you can be communicated to their 'friend' instead. A puppet offers insight into the child's inner world.
A puppet helps you view the world through a child's eyes and engage in playful interactions. This opens up a whole new, playful world for you as well.
You just need to learn how to work with it in a way that achieves the results you envision. This could involve using more active language, reaching children more effectively, helping children open up, teaching children specific skills, assisting children in managing their anger, making children more resilient, and more.
What those results are is up to you. You and your situation are central in this program, and I am here to help you achieve your goals, working together to figure out what works best in your specific situation with this particular child (or children).
The puppet is your playful connector
You will gain practical experience with your puppet, learning how to bring it to life and make it credible to the children you work with. You’ll feel confident in your abilities, have control over the puppet, and manage the situation effectively.
Your puppet will be there for the child, operating from the unique ‘puppetcoachapproach.’ It will be a friend and supportive witness, viewing the child without judgment and always standing on the child’s side. No matter what.
Your puppet will become a tool for communicating ideas and instructions in an accessible and inviting way. You’ll learn which phrases work, which tone is effective, and which questions to avoid.
You’ll use the power of the puppet to gain deeper insight into the child, allowing you to tailor your approach to the specific needs of each child. The puppet opens the door, and you decide what’s needed to help the child move forward.
You’ll discover which topics and conversation starters you can use to build a relationship with the child. This relationship is essential for addressing more sensitive subjects over time.
A puppet offers opportunities you don’t have without it. By experimenting with the puppet, you’ll discover how to use these possibilities effectively. Working with a puppet will change your perspective on children and the way you communicate with them.
Everything starts with a plan. We’ll set your goals. Who do you want to help better? How do you want to use your puppet? When will our process be considered successful for you? We’ll determine where you want to be in three months, create a tailored plan to get you there and start working.
Part of the plan is to bring your puppet to life and give it a character that the child will want to connect with. I’ll help you identify traits that align with your goals and show you how to create a foundation for your puppet that you can use repeatedly in different situations and/or with different children.
Another part of the plan involves making actual contact with a child through your puppet. I’ll show you how to do this and create a plan tailored to the situation and this specific child. If it helps, my puppet JaNee is happy to engage with the child to demonstrate how we can explore effective approaches.
For three months, you’ll present your situations and cases to me so I can help you equip your puppet with the words, phrases, approaches, and activities that will help you understand the child better and encourage them to take steps forward. We’ll try, adjust, and experiment until your puppet truly works for you.
The puppet is your catalyst and facilitator
What Can You Expect?
We’ll work together for three months towards your goals. You decide where you want to go, and I will support you, provide a solid foundation, and teach you how to help not just this one child, but all the other children you work with as well.
The intake is designed to determine what you need, where you currently stand, your experience with a puppet, and what you hope to achieve from this program. After the intake, your program will begin.
You’ll gain access to online lessons that you can follow at your own chosen times. These lessons will help you bring your puppet to life, tailor it to the children, the issues, and the topics you work with. The lessons provide the foundation that we will further refine during our meetings to align with the goals you want to achieve.
During the program, we will meet at least once every two weeks for an hour. These meetings are designed to help you apply what you learn in the online lessons to your daily practice. Including the intake, we will have a total of 7 joint meetings.
Outside of the meetings, you can send me messages via Voxer throughout your 3-month coaching period. Voxer is a messaging app that allows you to send text messages, voice messages, and recordings of your situation. This way, I get a better understanding of your current situation, can respond more precisely, and provide you with the guidance you need.
By the end of your program, you will feel confident with your puppet and be fully equipped to connect with the children you wish to support in a new, playful, and relationship-focused way.
Your situation, target audience, and priorities are at the heart of this personalized one-on-one program.
I guarantee that through this Bridge Builder program, you will feel empowered and confident with your puppet, turning it into an extension of yourself that opens doors previously closed to you and builds meaningful connections with children.
As your coach, mentor, and guide, I will offer you my exclusive attention and draw on 30 years of experience to help you develop a puppet that becomes a true bridge builder, tailored to you and the challenges you face.
